HL7 - Health Level 7

HL7 or Health Level 7 is THE STANDARD in healthcare communication.

The goal of HL7 is to create the best and most widely used standards in healthcare. According to the official HL7 organization: "HL7 provides standards for interoperability that improve care delivery, optimize workflow, reduce ambiguity and enhance knowledge transfer among all of our stakeholders, including healthcare providers, government agencies, the vendor community, fellow SDOs and patients."

Health Level Seven (HL7), is an all-volunteer, not-for-profit organization involved in development of international healthcare standards. "HL7" is also used to refer to some of the specific standards created by the organization (i.e. HL7 v2.x, v3.0, HL7 RIM etc.).

Hospitals and other medical institutions typically use many different types of systems to communicate with one another. Everything, from patient records to billing information, is tracked and recorded in computer systems. In order for these different types of systems to communicate with each other, they use a standard like HL7.

The goal of this website is to introduce you and your organization to the HL7 standard, teach you how you can become HL7 integrated and help you find the most powerful and/or affordable HL7 tool for your needs.
